Oakdale Gators swim lessons are designed specifically to prepare a young swimmer for our 8 and under practice group. Class sizes are capped at a 2:1 swimmer-instructor ratio to optimize learning or basic swim skills.
Lesson participants will be coached on the basics of swimming including blowing bubbles, correct kicking technique, back floating, front floating, and correct head position. All skills gained in lessons fall under the primary goal of having young swimmers feeling comfortable in the water.
After each one week session of swim lessons the Gators head coach will conduct a quick test with each participant to gauge if they are ready to begin swimming in our 8 and under practice group. Swimmers must pass four skillsets:
#1: Float on back successfully for five seconds
#2: Float on back while kicking successfully for five seconds
#3: Float on stomach successfully for five seconds
#4: Float on stomach while kicking successfully for five seconds

Since the 1970's the Oakdale Gator Summer Swim Team has been the place for an introduction to competitive swimming. Swimmer learn the fundamentals of competition in the swimming world. An introduction to all four stroke, racing starts, turns, streamlines, underwater kicking, and breath control. Swim meets are attended on Saturdays beginning in May and ending in July. Although the competitive nature of swim meets can be exhilarating, we make it a key point that swim meets are not the primary focus of our summer team. Attending practice, becoming comfortable and strong in the water, learning the fundamentals of competitive swimming, and learning how to listen to and focus on coaches are key to becoming a successful Gator.

We offer a program for those who are high school age, but may not want to swim competitively, valid USA Swimming registration card is required.

You are invited to join in on all the fun with your kids! Join our Adult Swim during normal swim team practice times. You must have a valid USA Swimming Registration Card, link is found under "FORMS/USA SWIMMING" on the top bar all the way to the right of the page.
